The phrase "Deep Field" is the title of a celebrated and seminal image of the Hubble space telescope. It probes a region of sky where, by accident, no "near" objects obstruct the view in the deepness of space and time (remember: looking far away always means looking into the deep past). The surprise was that this region is full of galaxies distributed over all possible distances and thus ages. Thus, Deep Field may be seen as synonyme for Plethora of Things, of Multitude and Richness, where none was expected.

The hope is that this blog will contain a surprising amount of deep, rich or multi-faceted thoughts. It shall probe regions of our human way of thinking, of our cililization and our cultures, which are not obstructed too much be "near" objects or events, or which can be liberated from too many common-sense point of views. In any case, this blog will present new and hopefully surprising and unexpected view points to issues which usually have been discussed before in length elsewhere or even everywhere ...
